Tesla Model S Charging Diagnostics FAQ
The charging station, supply, connector and vehicle each form part of the charging path. Knowing where charging works helps narrow the inspection without assuming that the vehicle needs a new part.
Record the exact alert, charger type, starting battery level and whether charging fails immediately or stops later. A screenshot is more useful than a description such as 'it will not charge.'
The purpose is to isolate the fault and define the next step. Some intermittent problems on a Tesla Model S may require additional observation or a controlled charging test before the scope is clear.
Tell the team about previous work on the affected system, especially replaced assemblies or modifications. For Model S charging diagnostics, the installed hardware needs to be checked along with the VIN; it may differ from an assumption based only on age.
