Tesla Model S Onboard Charger Service FAQ
Charging symptoms and diagnostic findings must distinguish a vehicle fault from the external charging equipment. Failure at one station alone is not enough to justify replacing the onboard charger.
The replacement and any configuration work must match the vehicle's hardware. The Tesla Model S model name alone does not identify every part revision or compatible assembly.
The scope should include the configuration required for the installed part and a check of the affected charging function. Any remaining alerts need evaluation before the repair is considered complete.
Tell the team about previous work on the affected system, especially replaced assemblies or modifications. For Model S onboard charger service, the installed hardware needs to be checked along with the VIN; it may differ from an assumption based only on age.
